TESTING
Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) Panel
Who is this test for?
Patients with symptoms of a urinary tract infection. Signs can include, but are not limited to, frequent urination, painful urination, fever or chills, fatigue, pain or pressure in back or lower abdomen, and cloudy, dark, bloody, or foul-smelling urine.
What are the potential benefits for my patient?
The PCR urine test is superior to urine culture for sensitive, accurate detection and identification of UTI-causing organisms. PCR can detect all pathogens in an infected sample, including ones that would be missed by a urine culture. The UTI panel can detect bacteria, certain yeasts, and antibiotic resistance in as little as 12 hours, allowing effective treatment to begin promptly to avoid risks of complications.
